| MOD St Athan, located in the Vale of Glamorgan, has been an integral part of the local community for over 70 years. Under the Defence Training Review (DTR), St Athan has been selected to become the home of a new Defence Technical Academy and associated Aerospace Business Park. Together they represent one of the most significant projects to have ever been undertaken in South Wales.
The new Technical Academy will be of international standing and will ensure UK military personnel continue to receive the very best training available. Technical training will be provided in a number of specialist skills including mechanical and aeronautical engineering, and communication/IT disciplines. |

The additional development of the Aerospace Business Park will further build on South Wales’ heritage in the aerospace industry and will both directly and indirectly create significant employment opportunities attracting further investment into the area.
Involving the community in the redevelopment of St Athan is a priority and the public’s views will directly impact on how the detail of our plans evolve in the build up to submitting a planning application in Spring 2009. |
