| MOD St Athan, located in the Vale of Glamorgan, has been an integral part of the local community for over 70 years. Under the Defence Training Review (DTR), St Athan has been selected to become the home of a new Defence Technical College and associated Aerospace Business Park. Together they represent one of the most significant projects to have ever been undertaken in South Wales.
The new Technical College will be of international standing and will ensure UK military personnel continue to receive the very best training available. Technical training will be provided in a number of specialist skills including mechanical and aeronautical engineering, and communication/IT disciplines. |

The additional development of the Aerospace Business Park will further build on South Wales’ heritage in the aerospace industry and will both directly and indirectly create significant employment opportunities attracting further investment into the area.
Involving the community in the redevelopment of MOD St Athan has been a priority from the outset. Throughout the consultation programme the project team has listened to and considered all the ideas put forward and, where possible, provided answers to particular questions. The community’s suggestions ultimately helped shape the final plans which were submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council in May 2009. |
